Assistant Principals' Committee

The Assistant Principals' Committee is a standing committee whose charge is to monitor the interests and concerns of the membership relative to the position of assistant principal. The committee is to plan and conduct a winter conference annually for assistant principals statewide and is responsible for the selection of the Assistant Principal of the Year.

The Committee is to make a report to the President and Executive Board at the November and March meetings. Recommendations and requests for direction may be secured at these meetings.

Budget Committee

The Budget Committee is to meet prior to the March meeting to establish a recommendation for a tentative budget for examination and approval by the Executive Board and the membership at the annual meeting.

Constitutional Issues Committee

The Constitutional Issues Committee is established to provide a resource on the association's constitution and to consider issues affecting the principalship as a profession. The committee shall make periodic reports to the Executive Board at its regularly scheduled meetings.

Legislative Committee

The Legislative Committee is a standing committee whose charge is to represent the interests of MASSP before the State Legislature. It is to establish member contacts throughout the state's legislative districts in order to make MASSP visible and to make its voice heard. The committee is to monitor, testify on, and/or introduce legislation that promotes quality education in the State of Maryland. The Committee is to review pre-filed bills in early fall to develop positions and advise the President and Executive Board.

Member Services Committee

The Member Services Committee is established to provide a unified approach to services to our members. This committee will study methods to recognize and award our members for outstanding service to the organization and/or the profession. This committee shall promote the benefits of our organization to our members and non-members.

Middle Level Committee

The Middle Level Committee is a standing committee whose charge is to monitor the needs, interests, and concerns of MASSP's middle level members and to formulate recommendations for the President and Executive Board. The committee is to sponsor a conference for the Middle Level administrator. A liaison is to be maintained with the Maryland Middle School Association. The committee chairperson is to make a report to the President and Executive Board at the October and February meetings.

Nominating Committee

The Nominating Committee is a standing committee whose members are elected at the spring general meeting by the Association members. Nominations and election procedures are those found in Robert's Rules of Order. A slate of candidates will be presented to the Executive Board in January. Candidates must be members of MASSP and NASSP. The slate must be accepted by the Executive Board by February, announced in the March Newsletter, and opened for nominations from the floor at the time of the election. The Committee will act to fill any unexpired terms of office.

Spring Conference Committee

The Spring Conference Committee is a standing committee appointed by the President of the Association. The purpose of the committee is to establish the time, place, theme, and in general, to organize the Spring Conference for the total MASSP membership.
