Mr. David Bruzga, principal of Long Reach High School in Howard County has been named the High School Principal of the Year.

   Mr. Bruzga, has spent his 28-year career in Howard County as a teacher, assistant principal and principal. He has been principal at Long Reach HS since 1995.

   The president of the Long Reach PTSA, Dorothy Griggs,said Mr. Bruzga has helped Long Reach maintain a community "where people are encouraged to try."

Dr. Michael Reidy, principal of Plum Point Middle School in Calvert County, has been named Middle School Principal of the Year.

   According to Mrs. Carol Reid, Assistant Superintendent for Instruction,
"Dr. Reidy holds himself accountable for both the meeting of system-wide goals, school goals and the process employed to move students and staff to excellence. Under his principalship, Plum Point Middle School was recognized as a Reading Network School as well as a nationally recognized Blue Ribbon School of Excellence. His belief that students and staff can always grow and develop and his commitment to address everyone's needs is at the heart of Plum Point Middle School's success. Dr. Reidy is a principal who is never satisfied with the status quo. He is one of our system's greatest assets."
